KIDDERMINSTER Operatic and Dramatic Society have been putting on musicals and plays for 100 years, but this year’s play will not be running as smoothly.

“Play On”, by Rick Abbot, is a comic play about a play. “Murder Most Foul” is a murder mystery without a body, written by Phyllis Montague, played by Daphne Knight, a writer who thinks she is a lot better than she really is.

She keeps rewriting the script and expects the director and the cast to learn the latest version three days before opening night.

Add to this the facts that the cast of “Murder Most Foul” is neither confident in itself, nor the play, props go missing, sound effects get scrambled and you have the making of an hilarious evening.

The notes within “Play On” say that the cast can feel free to add additional slip ups to those written – they have.

This year the Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society (KODS) celebrate their centenary and after the successful musical “42nd Street” back in March, the society are looking forward to performing their annual play – which will also be followed by a centenary concert at the end of the year.

The play is directed by John F Jones and will be performed at Kidderminster’s Rose Theatre between Wednesday, September 21, and Saturday, September 24.
