CARPET Trades Musical Theatre Company will present its annual musical at the Rose Theatre from next week.

This year they will perform the toe tapping Anything Goes which has a classic Cole Porter score including 'You're the Top', 'Friendship', 'Take Me Back to Manhattan' and the title song, 'Anything Goes'.

The story is centred around the liner S.S. American, sailing across New York with a variety of characters on board including Reno Sweeney, an evangelist-turned-nightclub singer, and her bevy of "angelic" showgirls; Billy Crocker, a young Wall Street employee looking for love with Hope Harcourt.

In addition, there are an upper-class English 'twit', Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, public enemy number 13, Moonface Martin and his side-kick Bonnie, also on board to mix-up the action.

A spokesman said: "The show is full of songs, dancing and comedy and the Carpet Trades Musical Theatre Company are very pleased to have back Doug Forrester as director, following his success his Copacabana last year.

"We look forward to seeing you all on board."

The nautical musical will run between Thursday, October 13, and Saturday, October 22, including two matinee shows.

Tickets are priced between £11 and £13, and can be booked from the Rose Theatre box office on 01562 743745 or online at rosetheatre.co.uk.
