FAIRIES will be flying at the Rose Theatre when Worcester Gilbert and Sullivan take to the stage for their performance of Iolanthe.
Iolanthe, or the Peer and the Peri, is a fairy opera that doubles as a light political satire and was the first Gilbert and Sullivan opera to be staged at the Savoy Theatre in 1882.
Strephon, a half fairy, falls in love with Phyllis, a ward of the court of Chancery and the humour escalates as lords and fairies fall in and out of love with each other until everyone's lives are in peril.
Fortunately, legal minds come up with a clever solution to the problem and all is resolved.
With a line-up of experienced principals, a very strong chorus, exquisite costumes and innovative stage design this production promises to delight audiences both aurally and visually and should not be missed.
Children - and any adults who want to - are encouraged to come dressed up and be swept away to fairyland.
Iolanthe will be at the Rose Theatre between November 8 and November 12.
Tickets are priced between £6 and £13 and are available from the Rose Theatre box office on 01562 743745 or by visiting rosetheatre.co.uk.
