A BLAKEDOWN theatre group will celebrate their 50th anniversary year with their December pantomime.

Theatre 282's pantomime, Hickory Dickory Dock, opens on December 1, and promises to be a fun-filled way to kick off the Christmas period.

Theatre 292 was formed from the youth club that met at the old parish rooms in Blakedown in 1966 and has been delighting audiences with pantomimes, comedies and dramas ever since.

With roots in youth drama, the group now has a vibrant and award-winning youth group who form the backbone of the cast for Hickory Dickory Dock.

All money raised from a raffle, to be held during the Friday night performance, will be donated to the local Blood Bikes group, Midlands Freewheelers.

Blood Bikes groups throughout the UK provide an emergency out of hours service to the NHS and long-time Theatre 282 member, David Jones, has recently passed his advanced motorcycle test and joined the Midland Freewheelers.

Hickory Dickory Dock opens at Blakedown Parish Rooms on Thursday, December 1, and runs until Saturday, December 3.
