MUSICIANS, comedians and actors will be heading to Wyre Forest in October for the thirtieth anniversary of Bewdley Festival.

The full line-up for the anniversary festival, which will take place between October 6, and October 15, was announced at a launch event on Friday evening (July 14).

Highlights include Roger McGough and LiTTLe MACHiNe, an interview with actor Timothy Watson and an evening with Dr Pete Waterman OBE.

There will also be a visit from "China in Your Hand" hitmakers T'pau, Dead Ringers star Jan Ravens and comedian Sara Pascoe.

Two regular sell-out daytime performers will also return this year - a lecture by Max Keen, which sees Max in character as Prince Rupert of the Rhine, and Lesley Smith appearing as Boudica.

Dave Collins, festival director, said: "For an arts festival of this magnitude to reach its 30th anniversary year in a town the size of Bewdley is a splendid achievement, of which the town should be rightly proud.

"Once again, the combination of the efforts of dedicated volunteers, partnerships with local businesses, the support of sponsors, patrols and the Friends of Festival has resulted in a great line-up for the 2017 programme."

Mr Collins added: "The stars are coming to Bewdley to celebrate thirty glorious years."

The 10-day festival kicks off with poet Roger McGough returning 30 years after his appearance at the first ever Bewdley Festival. He will appear alongside LiTTLe MACHiNe in a show featuring a selection of vintage, classic and surprising poems set to music.

Other performers include soft-rock and pop singer/songwriter Graham Gouldman, Radio 4's Woman's Hour presenter Jenni Murray, the Tom Robinson Band and architectural historian Anthony Peers.

The festival will close with a combination of comedy and satire from consummate impressionist Jan Ravens - bringing her new 'Difficult Woman' show from the Edinburgh Festival - and a musical church service on the theme of 'light'.

Following the successful Duck House projects of the past two years, festival organisers are taking a new turn this year and asking the community to join in creating an online photo album depicting 24 hours in the life of Bewdley. More information about the project will be published on bewdleyfestival.org.uk.

All tickets for Bewdley Festival will go on sale on Saturday (July 22).

Tickets will be available on bewdleyfestival.co.uk and from the Bewdley Tourist Information Centre, in Load Street, in person. To check availability, call 0845 6077819.
