THE popular Nonentities are set to take on one of the most iconic plays of the modern era at the Rose Theatre next week.
The society's forthcoming production of John Osborne's Look Back in Anger runs between Monday (October 29) and Saturday, November 4 at the Rose Theatre.
First performed in 1956, the play is generally acknowledged as ground-breaking when it introduced the "angry young man" to the British stage.
The play, set in a Midlands town, is alleged to be based on some of his own experiences and it is claimed, that while John Osborne was appearing in rep at the old Kidderminster Playhouse between 1953 and 1954, he could often be found in the dressing rooms writing ideas and dialogue which subsequently became this most famous of plays.
A spokesman for the Nonentities said: "Whether this be fact, or merely urban myth, it certainly gave the Nonentities a very good reason to include it as part of their current season celebrating 80 years of the existence."
