Derelict space in Stourport an 'absolute mess'

STOURPORT’S deputy mayor is out to solve the mystery of a disused car park in the town and bring it back into use.

Conservative town councillor Ken Henderson is eager to find the owner of the former car park – once also used to be a bus terminal – on Bridge Street, just before the junction with Harold Davies Drive.

After tracking down the owner, Mr Henderson wants to see the derelict space back into use.

“We’re going back about 10 years since the space has been used,”

said Mr Henderson. “I am going to write to who we believe to be the owner to see what he intends to do with it.

“It is an absolute mess with ugly metal fencing around it off the main road and it is a complete tip.

“There was a planning application accepted to make use of the site in 2006 but nothing was ever done with it.

“First of all I would like to see it tidied up, unless the owner does intend to do anything with it. I am sure it would make a good car park for example.

“If the owner does not have any plans for it, I would like to see someone come in and buy it and put it back into use again.”

Perish the thought that cllrs should actually get involved with matters that affect their electorate the most.

If Ken fancies doing a bit of weeding, and finds a tin of white paint, we could have another over-priced car park
