CHANGES to Wyre Forest’s splash parks and paddling pools have been given the go-ahead.

Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet approved the plans at a meeting on Monday which will see the current Brinton Park facility demolished with a new one built next to the site’s play area.

The district council will look to build a new splash park at Stourport’s Lickhill Memorial Park and work with Stourport Town Council to transfer the provision and maintanence of the current Riverside pool.

The St George’s Park, Kidderminster, splash park will be repaired using the water pump from the facility due to be demolished in Brinton Park and the Northwood Lane facility will be retained.

District council leader Conservative John Campion said not only were the parks being improved but the plans would save taxpayers money.

He added: “It was very sad we were not able to open the some of the splash pads this year.

“One of the most important things was for us to get them open next year and without passing these plans we would not have been able to.”

Proposals were put forward after £300,000 was allocated to splash parks in this year’s budget.
