Local groups invited to apply for grants
7:40am Thursday 3rd January 2013 in News
VOLUNTARY groups and community organisations in Kidderminster can get financial help from a charitable fund.
Retailer The Midcounties Co-operative has invited its members to apply for grants of up to £2,000 to benefit local causes in the areas where it trades.
The Midcounties Community Fund will accept applications until February 8. The £2 million fund makes grants twice a year in spring and autumn and has worked in partnership with charity Community Foundations Network.
Maxine Sharman, head of community engagement, said: “As a member-owned business working closely with the community in the areas where we trade, we wish to help voluntary and community organisations who share our values and provide services locally.
“Our members can apply for a grant on behalf of groups which meet our criteria but they need to do so during the period from January 7 until February 8. Our judging panel then meets in April to judge all eligible applications.”
Grants will be made to provide a range of services and assistance that meet recognised needs in the local community.
