Two Wyre Forest burglaries at unsecured homes

TWO Wyre Forest burglaries have prompted West Mercia Police to remind residents to make sure their property is secure before going out or going to bed at night.

The first incident saw thieves enter a home in Brook Street, in Kidderminster, between 1.30pm and 8pm last Friday through an unlocked door.

A new boxed 51-inch Samsung 3D TV worth £450 and a £110 blue Nintendo Wii were stolen.

Thieves also entered a property in Gibbons Crescent, in Stourport, by climbing through an open window, between 10pm last Friday and 9am on Saturday.

They stole a handbag which contained payment cards and personal items.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Lloyd Davies said: "As the Brook Street burglary was during the day we are hoping someone may have seen the burglars in the area either before or after it happened.

"The house backs onto a cemetery so it is possible the offenders may have left that way.

"They would probably have been quite noticeable carrying a large boxed television so we are eager to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen them in the Brook Street or Blakebrook area.

"The other burglary was overnight while the victim was asleep and could quite easily have been worse if she had disturbed them as they were in her house."

Witnesses or anyone with information about either of the burglaries should contact DC Davies on 101, quoting incident 244-S-040113, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
