Jessops enters administration

A CAMERA retailer which has a Kidderminster store has gone into administration, throwing the fate of its employees into doubt.

Jessops, which has a store in Vicar Street, appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as administrators today. The administrators said it was “inevitable” there would be store closures.

A statement released by PwC said the retailer had seen a “significant decline” in 2012 and the run-up to Christmas. Across the UK Jessops operates from 192 stores with about 2,000 employees.

Rob Hunt, joint administrator and partner at PwC, said he would review the company’s financial position.

He said trading would continue pending the outcome of discussions between directors and funders but Jessops would not honour customer vouchers or accept returned goods.
