Sheds and garages broken into in Kidderminster

SHEDS and garages are being targeted in Kidderminster police have warned, after six were broken into within days of each other.

Four sheds and garages were found to have been broken into in Neville Avenue and Blount Terrace, after a resident rang police just after 3am today after being disturbed.

Nothing had been stolen but padlocks had been cut off, garage doors forced and a security light smashed.

Two men, one wearing an orange top, were seen getting into a car and driving off in the direction of Northumberland Avenue.

In two separate incidents on the other side of Kidderminster, a tin roof was prised off a shed in Chester Road North at around 4am on Tuesday.

Fishing tackle was stolen but dropped in a nearby alley after the offenders were disturbed.

A shed was also broken into in Highfield Road overnight between Monday and the following day, when a Carerra Kraken mountain bike worth £100 was stolen.

Mr Peter Aston, West Mercia Police's crime prevention advisor for Worcestershire, said: "Expensive equipment like garden tools, mowers, mountain bikes and power tools should preferably not be stored in sheds.

"If there is no alternative, sheds should be made as secure as possible and valuable items security marked with the postcode and registered with the national property register via the Immobilise.com website, which helps the police reunite them with their owners if they are stolen.”
