Kidderminster death crash man, 78, named

THE 78-year-old man who died in after his car hit a tree in Kidderminster has been named as Maurice Luscott-Evans.

Mr Luscott-Evans, from the Kidderminster area, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which happened at about 12.40am yesterday at the junction of the B4189 and A451 near the Park Gate pub.

His red Vauxhall Aqila left the road and collided with a tree.

The Worcestershire coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday.

PC Dave Langridge, of West Mercia Police, said: “We now know Mr Luscott-Evans travelled along the A442 Bridgnorth Road into Kidderminster and is then likely to have been driven down the B4189 Wolverley Road towards the Park Gate.

“At that time of night there would not have been many vehicles on the road, so we would like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing a small red car prior to the collision.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Langridge or Sgt Matt Eddy at the force operations support team at Rubery Police Station on 101, quoting incident 13-S-100113.

As sad as his death is, and my genuine sympathies go out to his family, one has to ask the question what was a man of that age doing driving so late at night, and isn't it strange he came from Bridgnorth then headed to Stourbridge when he lived in Kiddy?
That said, RIP and respect to family.

kidderlord....please explain to me WHY you are so bothered about the reasoning behind this gentleman being out at this time. There could be so many reasons for this. The main issue here is that a man has died in a car crash. Why do people have to read so deep into things and start asking futile questions?! It doesn't help anyone.

Simply because- and you have asked for the truth - I do not believe a 78 year old person is a fit and proper person to be driving at that time of day in pitch dark, and at this time of year potentailly dangerous driving conditions such as ice, fog and snow etc. In this instance only the driver was fatally injurned - it could have been so different and others involved. There - you asked- and if I have offended anyone then sorry, but I answered truthfully!

And there was me thinking it was a free country.
Truly shocking that this poor blokes movements should be queried by someone who didn't even know him or the circumstances of the accident.

Sometimes it's just better to think things and not say / print them. Unless of course curfews have been introduced for a certain age group.

What is wrong with coming to Kidder from Bridgnorth rd that way? I do it regularly, coming through Wolverley etc if I need to get to the East side of Kidder rather than going through the town centre and along the ring rd. The route is perfectly safe. As Respectable says we don't know the facts.
If you ASSUME, you make an **** out of U and ME.
