KIDDERMINSTER Hospitals League of Friends is opening a town centre shop to help raise funds for equipment and services.

The charity shop, in the Swan Centre in Kidderminster, will be opening on Monday (jan 28) and is in need of volunteers and donations.

Peter Picken, of the League of Friends, said: “We’ve had a shop for more than 30 years. We started selling things in the old children’s ward when it closed and we’ve moved twice to Crescent Road and then Bewdley Hill but times change and there were very few people walking past.

“We decided we ought to go somewhere where there were customers and we were given the opportunity to have these premises in the Swan Centre.

“We get an awful lot of support from the local community but we are appealing for volunteers and donations. Kidderminster Hospital will continue and we believe, if anything, we will increase the services it offers. We still have some wonderful staff there and facilities.”

The shop will be selling clothing, books and bric-a-brac.

Visit either the Kidderminster or Stourport shop, in Lombard Street, to find out more about volunteering.

This is great news, it should enable the League to raise much needed money. Well done League of Friends
