Kemp for kids appeal on target

KEMP Hospice’s Children’s Appeal has raised nearly £6,000 to help support children and young people coping with bereavement.

The Kemp for Kids appeal, in association with The Shuttle, was launched 10 weeks ago in a bid to raise £30,000 in 30 weeks.

So far, £5,832.65 has been raised towards the target but Kemp needs more Shuttle readers to help raise the remaining funds.

The Children’s Appeal has been launched to help deliver various programmes around the local area to support bereaved children.

More than 80 bereaved children and young people have already been helped but the demand for advice continues to rise.

Anyone who is are part of a school, club, group or workplace and could help Kemp reach their target, should download the special fundraising pack available at kemphospice.org.uk.

The pack contains fundraising ideas such as organising a dress down day at the office where employees pay to not have to wear their usual uniform or clothes at school or at work.

Other ideas include hosting a party such as an afternoon tea, wine-tasting event or pamper parties.

Quiz nights are also an idea which are simple to run and friends and family can enjoy raising money.

Jackie Turner, children’s and family worker at the Hospice, said: “Dealing with the death of a loved one can be a very difficult time, particularly for children.

"All of our services are aimed at helping children through the grieving process.

"To see the positive impact these services can have on a child’s life and to know you are making a difference is really moving.”

Kemp will provide all fundraisers with an event pack that includes posters, invitations, tips and checklists.
