A TALENTED maths student at Bewdley School has topped the class by gaining a merit certificate in a UK Mathematics Trust competition.
Teddy Turner, 17, was entered into the senior kangaroo challenge after gaining a gold certificate in the senior maths challenge.
More than 98,000 students from across the UK entered the maths challenge with the top 10 per cent receiving a gold certificate.
Teddy then took the kangaroo challenge with more than 3,000 students and came in the top 25 per cent of entrants to gain a merit certificate.
The UK Mathematics Trust is a charity which aims to advance the education of young people in mathematics by organising the annual competition and other educational enrichment activities.
Fiona Wilmot, faculty head for maths and ICT, said: “We are all extremely proud of Teddy’s achievement. He is an outstanding mathematician and he performed extremely well in both challenges, he deserves to achieve this prestigious national award.”
