Making a splash: Swimathon fundraisers at the Sebastian Coe Health Club.
MORE than 40 swimmers took to the pool to raise money for Kemp Hospice’s Children’s Appeal.
The 12-hour Swimathon, which took place at the Sebastian Coe Health Club in Bewdley, raised more than £2,000 for Kemp for Kids.
The Kemp for Kids Children’s Appeal, in association with The Shuttle, aims to raise £30,000 in 30 weeks to help deliver bereavement services for children across Wyre Forest.
The Swimathon was designed to allow participants to swim as much or as little as they felt comfortable with.
The event began with a group of swimmers from the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, who named themselves the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies.
Sebastian Coe Health Club is also holding a competition for people to guess how many lengths were swum throughout the day.
The prize is a six-month membership for the centre and people can enter at the club.
Richard Brown, fundraising manager at Kemp Hospice, said: “It was a fantastic day and we are so grateful for everyone’s support. “The money raised from this event is going towards our Children’s Appeal so we can help more children and young people in the Wyre Forest dealing with bereavement.
“The staff at Sebastian Coe Health Club have been really supportive in hosting this event and it’s something we’d definitely like to do again next year.”
