Youngsters taking part in festival of sport

SPORTY Wyre Forest youngsters will join children across Worcestershire to take part in a day of sport.

More than 1,000 children from schools across the counyt will come together for the Worcestershire Winter Sainsbury’s School Games.

The Games will take place in Worcester on Thursday, February 28, and pupils – ranging in age from 8 to 16 – will go head-to-head in their own mini Olympics.

They will be battling it out for the title of Worcestershire School Games Champion in eight different sports.

The sports will include hockey, football, athletics, netball, badminton and rugby with 23 competitions taking place during the day.

Stephen Brewster, director of the sports partnership for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said: “We are really looking forward to the Worcestershire Winter Sainsbury’s School Games.”
