Kidderminster guitarist needs venue for charity gig

For charity: Bill Dodwell needs a venue.
A KIDDERMINSTER guitarist who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer is appealing for a Wyre Forest venue to host a charity gig to raise money and awareness of the disease.
Bill Dodwell, 60, wants to find a venue to host a concert to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mr Dodwell, who was diagnosed in January 2012, said: “I just want to make some money for charity and to get the message across, if you think something’s wrong, get checked.
“Had I taken my friend’s advice and gone for a test about nine months earlier, it would have been found sooner and it may not have been so serious.”
Mr Dodwell, who was previously an insurance claims investigator, has been told his life expectancy has been reduced as the cancer is inoperable.
He is currently playing in a Kidderminster-based band called Hotwyred and believes it is keeping him going.
He added: “The band keeps me focused on something. I feel this is the last year I’m going to be fit enough to play.
“I’ve got some bands who will play at the gig but I’m looking for a variety of different types of music.”
Anyone who might have a venue with a capacity of about 200 to 300 people, should call Mr Dodwell on 01562 742224.
