Wyre Forest libraries to celebrate World Book Day

LIBRARIES and schools will be celebrating World Book Day with activities and competitions across Wyre Forest.

Worcestershire Libraries and Learning Service will be hosting free events to mark the national celebration of books and reading on Thursday.

Kidderminster Library is inviting school children to visit with their families after school on Thursday where staff will be giving away World Book Day books supplied by WHSmith in return for vouchers.

Stourport Library has also partnered with the local WHSmith and will have World Book Day books available between Thursday and Saturday, March 16.

A colouring competiton is also being held at Stourport Library with a prize of a Tom Gates book signed by the author Liz Pichon.

Bewdley Library will be running pop up story times throughout the day on Thursday.

As well as hosting activities to celebrate World Book Day, the first  library card specifically-designed for children under 12 will be launched as part of the celebrations at Pershore Library.

The library cards will also be available on the day at all other libraries across the county.

Worcestershire's new children's library card has been designed by author Liz Pichon, one of the UK's rising stars in children's literature, and winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2011 and Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2012.
