New mobile library bus set to be on the road in Worcestershire

A NEW mobile library bus is set to hit the roads of Worcestershire later this year.

The vehicle is currently going through the procurement process and is due to join Worcestershire County Council library service’s other five buses already on the road, which include the Library Service At Home vehicle, computabus and Schools Library Service mobile.

The new vehicle will enable Libraries and Learning to work with other organisations so people can not only borrow books while on the bus but access a variety of county council services.

The mobile library service has more than 300 stops across the county, covering hundreds of miles every week and reaching more than 3,000 customers.

The service provides access to a selection of books for residents. To find out where the mobile library services’ nearest stop is go to worcestershire.gov.uk/librariesandlearning.

Conservative councillor John Campion, the county council's cabinet member with responsibility for the Libraries and Learning Service, said: "This is an exciting time for development of the mobile library service.

“The bus is great for the local community and gives more residents across Worcestershire access to the libraries services. Working in partnership with county council colleagues will get more council services on the road and available in your local area."
