Mayor backs climate change campaign

BEWDLEY’SMayor is supporting a national campaign to help create a sustainable future.

John Latham is backing Climate Week, which ends on Sunday. It followed a report to the town council by Conservative councillor Julian Phillips, which asked councillors to support the principle of ClimateWeek, Britain’s biggest climate change campaign, and take steps to reduce its own carbon footprint by reducing the amount of paper ituses for agendas and reports.

Mr Latham said: “I really do hope that Bewdley people will find a way to play their part.

“We know from experience that inthe UK we have a weather pattern that seems to be changing, for example, with more wet summers.

“That means there is a greater chance of the River Severnflooding at any time of the year withall the problems that can bring for Bewdley.

We need to be aware of these consequences.”
