Photographers can make a splash in water company competition

SEVERN Trent Water is calling on keen photographers to enter a competition which could see their work featured in the company’s 2014 charity calendar.

The calendar, which will raise money for WaterAid, will feature 12 winning photographs taken at the company’s reservoir visitor sites across its region. There will be prizes for all 12 winners, with a top prize of a holiday for the overall winner.

Andrew Parsons, head of visitor sites for Severn Trent Water, said: “We have some spectacular views at our visitor sites, so we thought what better way to showcase them than in a calendar “ In addition, we wanted to give local photographers the opportunity to see some of their work on display and all while we try to raise some money for charity.

“Spring is a great time to get out and about at our sites and whether its wildlife, water, flora or fauna that is of interest, there is something for every enthusiastic photographer to capture and it’s not just the natural environment that can be photographed.

“We’d encourage people to think a little differently and look to some of the historical buildings that we have at our sites.

“The competition is free to enter and people can visit any one of our sites to take photos or even use one they’ve taken recently. Once they have their photo they just need to enter through our website, stwater.co.uk/photocomp.

“The 12 winning photos will be carefully selected by a judging panel, which includes Paul Smith, the photography course director at Coventry University.”

The 12 winners will see their photograph appear in the calendar and receive £200 of retail vouchers. Their photos will feature in an exhibition at Severn Trent Water’s head offices in Coventry.

One photo will also be chosen for the top prize of a Forest Holidays weekend getaway. The closing date for entries is May 31.
