Wyre Forest fundraisers get ready for Red Nose Day

Making a splash: Keeper Amy Sewell with sea lion Callum.
WYRE Forest fundraisers are getting their buckets at the ready to raise money this weekend for Red Nose Day 2013.
On Saturday, staff at the Swan Centre in Kidderminster are holding an old-fashioned bring and buy sale with books, bric-a-brac, nearly new and new items.
The sale will take place in the Swan Centre throughout the day and there will also be a fundraising raffle.
Richard Ralph, associate director at DTZ, managing agents for the Swan Centre, said: “As a key part of the local community the Swan Centre and its staff are always keen to support fund-raising events for both local and national appeals where possible.”
Staff at West Midland Safari Park are also planning to do something funny for money at the park’s Discovery Trail.
Keeper Amy Sewell and her accomplice Callum, the Californian sea lion, will kick off the silliness at the sea lion theatre.
They will be collecting donations in the theatre while staff members paint red noses on anyone happy to sport the accessory for the rest of the day.
Michelle Gale, human resource manager, said: “There’s something about fund-raising that really does create a buzz among the staff. In the case of Red Nose Day, it's a great opportunity for staff to use their extrovert nature to the full at the same time as raising money for a really good cause that they all believe in.”
The Red Nose Day promotion at West Midland Safari Park will run during sea lion shows until tomorrow.
Meanwhile, fitness class members in Kidderminster will be donning leg warmers during a special 1980s-themed workout.
Women who attend DR Fitness classes will be working up a sweat for Comic Relief on Monday and Tuesday at one-hour classes at Holy Innocents Church.
The fitness classes have raised a total of £6,000 for Comic Relief over the past 19 years.

Fancy dress is the preferred fund-raising method for both the young and old in Wyre Forest.
Everyone from schoolchildren to nursing home residents will be wearing something funny for this year’s Red Nose Day.
Bewdley Primary School is getting into the spirit today with pupils and staff dressing up as their favourite superhero.
The school has already raised £300 by selling red noses and is hoping to double the amount during the day.
The children and staff will also be learning the routine to the Black Lace party classic Superman and will be putting on a whole school performance in the afternoon.
Residents and staff at a Bewdley nursing home will be holding a fancy dress coffee morning tomorrow, at Summerdyne Nursing Home from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Fund-raising at Sainsbury’s in Kidderminster also features employees dressing up during their Red Nose-themed activities.
Employees will be having a mad hair and dress day tomorrow in store as well as taking part in a three hour dance-athon at Sainsbury’s in Oldbury.
