Blues double bassist Kel Elliott comes to Kidderminster
12:04pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News
Bluesy jazz: Kel Elliott will perform in Kidderminster.
A DOUBLE bass player who writes and performs her own songs will be fronting a quartet at a Kidderminster church.
Kel Elliott will be performing her bluesy jazz music at St George’s Church on Saturday.
The singer-songwriter writes upbeat music which takes her life experiences and her views on the state of the nation.
She hammers them out on stage with humour, irony, and a touch of mischief.
Her big voice and the support of Kelvin Leitch on guitar, Leo Steeds on keyboard, and percussion by Tom Voce help to get the audience dancing.
She has been inspired by a diverse range of artists from Tom Waits to Ella Fitzgerald to Bonnie Raitt to Michelle Shocked.
The band has performed in countries such as Ireland and Finland as well as performing in intimate and larger venues.
The concert, which is suitable for adults and children over 12, is being put on by Shindig, Worcestershire’s rural and community touring scheme.
The county’s programme of live arts and entertainment is for community venues hosted by voluntary promoting groups who sell tickets locally.
Touring companies and performers with regional, national and international profiles provide a wide range of theatre, dance, music, opera, storytelling, cabaret theatre, circus and children’s theatre.
