A PINK-blossoming cherry tree has been planted in memory of six-year-old Imie Harrison who died after falling into a Kidderminster canal.

Residents planted the tree on the green in Usmere Road, in Kidderminster, where the St John’s CE Primary School pupil lived.

Imie died after she fell into the canal near to Wolverley Court Lock in Springfield Park on Tuesday, March 19 while playing with her twin brother CJ and two friends.

Children helped to plant the tree with its pink flowers which was Imie’s favourite colour.

Family and friends decorated the tribute with photos of Imie, a message from Imie's mother, pink bows, butterflies, hearts, a teddy and a solar-lighted plaque which reads, this tree was planted in fond memory of Imie Harrison.

The memorial tribute was organised by Jay and Caroline Lawson, who run Broadwaters Smallholding, a small farm at their home, as well as residents in Usmere Road.

Webbs garden centre in Wychbold donated the tree and Pewter Angel Memorials donated the plaque.
