WOLVERLEY carnival organisers are hoping for sunshine on Saturday after last year’s event was postponed due to heavy rainfall and flooding.
The carnival kicks off with a procession starting at Sebright Green from 12.30pm, with judging taking place at 12.15pm.
The floats, minis and scooters, circus performers, Wyre Forest Navy Corps and Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) will move through the village to the Wolverley Memorial Hall with the procession being led by marching band the West Midlands Crystalettes.
This year’s carnival queen Mollie Bryant-Jones, 13, princess Elisha Brown, 12, and rosebud Evangeline Holden, eight, will open the day’s events at about 1.30pm which includes maypole and morris dancing by Wolverley Sebright Primary School pupils.
There will also be Zumba dancing, a mini soccer display, Eclipse martial arts, a bouncy castle, inflatables, stalls, face painting and games.
Carnival committee chairman Charles Sherrey said: “It should be a fantastic procession.
“Once the procession has arrived at Wolverley Memorial Hall, the carnival queen will open the fete and Crystalettes will perform in the arena.
“The weather forecast is brilliant, we’ve organised it this year. We’re looking forward to it.”
The Wolverley carnival queen, along with her princess and rosebud were crowned at the annual May Day Fair.
