2:10pm Tuesday 20th August 2013 in News
ANYONE considering a career working with children, young people and their families has the chance to find out what is involved.
Worcestershire County Council's early years and childcare service is offering an introduction to the Choices Pathway.
The free event takes place on Saturday, September 21, from 10am to 2pm at the Hive, Worcester. It has a particular focus on job roles working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (children aged 0-5 years). The pathway guides people through a sequence of optional stages and signposting, to help them decide on appropriate routes towards achieving their goals for working with children, young people and their families.
Carole Postins, recruitment retention officer for Worcestershire County Council, said: "This free session is a great opportunity for Worcestershire residents to learn about a possible future career.
“There are so many benefits to working with children, young people and their families, not least the personal satisfaction of being in a rewarding job.
“People may be surprised at the number of options available and by accessing appropriate advice and guidance, they will be more aware of the career path that will best suit them.
“The feedback that we have received from previous attendees has been positive and many people have gone on to enjoy working or volunteering with children."
The session is informal, delivered to a small group and provides opportunities to ask questions. It is suitable for anyone considering working with children, but particularly those who would like to work with children age up to five years.
It explains and highlights the importance of working with children, young people and families, explores some of the skills and qualities required and shows a range of career opportunities, as well as looking at relevant training and qualifications.
