A LONGSTANDING member of a Stourport-based company has been promoted and is now taking on the role of chairman.
Bouygues UK, the British division of Bouygues Construction Group, which owns Thomas Vale Construction, announced Tony Hyde, who was managing director for 11 years, has stepped up to chairman of the business.
The successor to his former position is Gary Mail, who has worked at the Worcester Road-based company since 2002 and was most recently construction director.
In his new role, Mr Hyde will deal with the business’s key clients and identify schemes which could benefit the company. Mr Mail will take the lead in day-to-day management of Thomas Vale, with ultimate responsibility for all business-related activities.
Mr Hyde said: “It was and still is very important the Thomas Vale business is led by people with a vested interest in the [Midlands] region.
“Thomas Vale, our clients and the fantastic people that work with us have been a huge part of my life since I joined the business in 1980 so, of course, I am delighted to take on the chairman role and be given the opportunity in such an exciting time in the development of the business.”
Mr Mail added: “I am relishing the prospect of building upon Tony’s leadership of the business. By driving continuous improvement and the new thinking throughout the business, we will ensure we are doing the best for our clients.”
The promotion also means Mr Mail joins Bouygues UK’s leadership team, which oversees the group’s operations.
Madani Sow, Bouygues UK chairman, said: “I would like to congratulate Tony and Gary. As longstanding members of the senior management team of Thomas Vale, they have a true understanding of our clients.”
Mr Hyde, who attended Stourport High School and joined Thomas Vale after leaving, received an honorary doctoral degree from Birmingham City University last year in recognition of his outstanding achievements within the industry.
