Another metal theft victim comes forward after Shuttle report

ANOTHER metal theft victim who had his catalytic converter stolen from his car in Stourport has come forward following a Shuttle report.
Martin Gavin said he, too, had the device taken from his vehicle just three days after Trevor Harris, who featured in The Shuttle on September 6. Mr Harris told how he had been living on edge since the catalytic converter was stolen from his Mitsubishi Shogun.
Mr Gavin said his family were also living in fear that the thieves would return after forking out £300 to repair his Ford Ranger 4X4.
He said the culprits struck between 10pm on Sunday, August 25 and noon the following day and first realised the device had been taken when he heard a tractor-like sound after starting up his engine.
“I looked under the vehicle to be met with sight of a large gap where the cat should be and two very neat cuts to the pipe work at each end,” he said.
“The fact that somebody can come on to your drive in the middle of the night and do that is crazy.”
He added a neighbour spotted a suspicious white van leaving his cul-de-sac on the night in question, adding a local garage had also been raided and had catalytic converters stolen from five Mazda 4X4s.
“I think there’s a spate going on in Stourport,” Mr Gavin added.
