Firm to create nine new jobs in Kidderminster

A FAMILY-run furniture company which featured on a Channel 4 makeover show will be opening in Kidderminster this weekend, creating nine jobs.
The Furniture Barn will be taking over the former Dreams store at the town’s Crossley Retail Park on Saturday, with hopes of taking on an extra three workers if the shop is a success.
The Market Harborough-based company, which has been running for almost 50 years, makes oak and pine furniture and featured on Hollywood Me, in which Interior designer to the stars Martyn Lawrence Bullar gives their home the Hollywood treatment, earlier this year.
The store has been expanding its operations and the new store in Kidderminster forms part of an expansion plan involving the opening of several outlets in the coming months.
Richard Kimbell, founder and managing director of The Furniture Barn, said: “We’re very pleased to open a new store in Kidderminster, as Kidderminster is very similar to our base in Market Harborough. We hope to show the local people that furniture shopping can be exciting as well as affordable.”
The in-store furniture will be displayed in room settings designed to give a real-life scenario so customers can imagine how the furniture might look in their home.
