Teachers' strike action expected to hit 13 Wyre Forest schools
TEACHER strikes are expected to affect 13 schools across Wyre Forest tomorrow with full or partial closure.
District primary and secondary schools will shut their doors to some or all pupils as teachers stage a walkout in a row over pay and pensions. Wyre Forest students who attend schools in Hagley and Clent could also be affected.
Among those expected to close fully will be the Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre, although post-16 students will be able to use a private study area. Wolverley Secondary School, Wolverley Sebright Primary School and Cookley Sebright Primary School will also be closed.
In Stourport, Wilden All Saints’ Primary School will shut its doors and in Kidderminster Franche Community Primary School and St John’s Primary School will not open.
Schools in the district will also be hit by a number of partial closures. In Kidderminster, Baxter College will be closed for students in years seven to 10, with years 11 to 13 expected to attend as normal. King Charles I School will be closed to pupils in years seven to 11, with years 12 and 13 due to attend as usual.
At Birchen Coppice Primary School, the only classes open tomorrow will be reception (Miss Mills), year five (Miss Turner), year six (Mrs Harris) and upper LSU (Miss Smith and Mrs Davison).
Classes open at Comberton Primary School will be nursery (all day), year one (Miss Bedworth), year three (Miss Hewitt and Miss Neale). Before and after school club is open as usual and all other classes will be closed.
Offmore Primary School will only be open for classes nursery (morning and afternoon), RHM, RSH, 1DH, 3SS, 3/4JJ, 4JW, 5MB, 6DK and 6JY.
In Stourport, Burlish Park Primary School’s year five pupils will start “later in the morning” and the school’s language unit will be closed.
Partial closures will also affect those pupils attending Clent Parochial Primary School (open only for Oak and Elm classes), Hagley Primary School (closed for years three to six, plus classes 1R and 2J) and Haybridge High School and Sixth Form Centre (open only for years 12 and 13).
