Former Sealine factory put on the market
7:10am Thursday 31st October 2013 in News
THE former Sealine factory in Kidderminster which was left vacant after the company was sold to a Pan-European firm in June has been put on the market.
Joint agents Jones Lang LaSalle and Harris Lamb are expecting strong interest in the 11.38 acre site in Whitehouse Road, but do not have a figure for how much they expect it to go for.
The luxury boat maker made 234 people redundant in April when it fell into administration. The company was subsequently sold to a pan-European investment company, leaving the premises, which comprises buildings totalling 260,000 sq ft, vacant.
Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier hopes that new life will be breathed into the existing manufacturing premises.
He said: “It was a sad day for the town when Sealine closed but I'm confident as we see signs of the economy recovering, the property will once again turn into a thriving industrial complex providing long term employment opportunities for the local community."
Vicky Beach of Jones Lang LaSalle said the premises are being offered as a whole or as three separate parts.
She said: “We are anticipating there will be a lot of firm interest from both local and national companies, in what is a prime position on the fringe of the town centre.
“Premises of this type and size with cranage and high eaves rarely come to the market and as the manufacturing sector is showing signs of a revival we believe there will be a number of competitive tenders for the premises. We hope to bring a positive conclusion to the final chapter in Sealine International's closure."
Jackie Bayliss of Harris Lamb said: "Clearly it is important for Wyre Forest District Council too, that such a prominent industrial complex attracts operators that can offer long term growth for the area after such a significant loss of jobs and we will be liaising closely with parties there in this respect."
