CHILDREN and their Barnardo’s foster carers from across Wyre Forest were treated to a half term trip to the West Midland Safari Park.

A group of 80, including families from Kidderminster, visited the safari park as part of a series of events and activities aimed at supporting foster carers.

Sara Castro, service manager from West Midlands Family Placements Service, said: “Around 80 children, foster carers and staff from Barnardo’s had a wonderful time and a fantastic day at West Midland Safari Park.

“There were so many animals to see up close and from the car and the children enjoyed the rides too. West Midland Safari Park did a great job ensuring we all had a fantastic day to remember.

“It is important we do everything we can to support foster carers and adopters by helping them to help those children and young people in need of nurturing, loving care.

“We passionately believe that every child deserves a safe, supportive and loving home.

“Sadly, across the United Kingdom thousands of children and young people are in care waiting to be adopted or to have a more permanent foster placement.

“We are keen to hear from people who might be able to look after children aged 0 to 18 years in their own homes - children who, because of difficult early experiences in life, need additional help and support.”
