THE founder of a Kidderminster-based charity that helps servicemen’s and women’s families who have been bereaved will find out tonight if he has won a business award.

Bill McCance, who set up Forces Support and is its chief executive and trustee, will be in London to see if he has been named a winner in the Great British Entrepreneur Year Awards 2013.

He formed Forces Support three years ago. The charity offers home maintenance support to bereaved families of servicemen and women.

Its services include gardening projects, such as memorial gardens, indoor decorating and general maintenance around the home.

Mc McCance’s experience includes previously working as a property developer and hotelier with a retail background. As a youngster, he ran his first retail shop at 17 and by the age of 19 he had bought his first property.

Mr McCance said: “I am so proud and extremely excited about tonight’s event. The nomination, in itself, is a wonderful achievement.

“I’m looking forward to meeting some extremely talented people at the awards ceremony, who will also be hoping to collect this magnificent award. I’m just delighted to be there.”

The Great British Entrepreneur Year Awards 2013’s sponsors include Bizcrowd, RBS and Natwest.
