A GROUP of bikers will set off from Stourport on a 14-mile ride to put smiles on the faces of lifelimited children.

The charity Chicken Run will take place on Sunday, December 8, from the Bay Horse Pub on Hartlebury Road to Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester.

It is the fourth year in a row Mick ‘Chicken’ Worrall and wife Jacqueline have organised the event which sees Mr Worrall dress up as Santa and deliver gifts to children at the hospice, including vouchers for presents.

This year, organisers are asking people to donate Argos vouchers for the youngsters.

Mrs Worrall said: “It is the fourth year we will be doing a bike run for Acorns, after hearing the chairman of Acorns at a charity fashion show give a talk about the work they do, we were prompted to do something to help near Christmas, however small.

“Acorns Hospice does so much good work to help families, we would encourage bikers to join in this event or members of the public to show their goodwill by donated Argos vouchers for gifts for the children at Christmas.”

She said because of the weather, the December chicken run was a smaller event than the traditional September ride, attracting about 40 to 50 bikes.

“We do, however, have donations gift vouchers by people not joining in the run itself,” she added.

Last year’s Acorns ride raised nearly £1,000 for the hospice and organisers hope to top that this year.
