A MAN was slashed in the face with a meat cleaver during an attempted robbery as he walked to a chip shop in Kidderminster.
The victim, in his late 40s, was approached by two men in the alley near to Somerleyton Avenue between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Saturday.
He was grabbed around the neck by one of them and the other threatened him with what he believed to be a meat cleaver, cutting him on the face.
They demanded money from him but were disturbed by another man and ran off empty handed towards Broome Crescent. Both offenders were white.
The first was aged about 45 years old, 5ft 9ins tall, of medium to stocky build, with dark hair and a plump face and was wearing a deerstalker type hat.
The other was aged 26 to 30, 6ft to 6ft 2ins tall, of skinny build, and had mousy coloured hair and a thin, pointy face.
The man suffered a small cut to his cheek which was glued by paramedics.
Police are appealing for the man who stopped at the entrance to the alley, causing the offenders to release the victim before running off back down the alley, to come forward.
They would also like to hear from any other witnesses or anyone with information.
Detective Constable Adrian Smith can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 735-s-301113 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
