PUPILS from a Kidderminster primary school have joined in with an annual crocus bulb planting project, to help brighten up the town.

Every child at St John’s Primary School, Blakebrook, has planted a corn outside Kidderminster Police Station, Habberley Road. The young people were supervised by headteacher Lawrence Gittins.

He said: “The children are hoping to use the flowers as inspiration for their descriptive writing when they flower in the spring.”

The planting sessions are an initiative of the Kidderminster-Husum Twinning Association to provide residents and visitors with a taste of the Crocus Festival held in Husum – Kidderminster’s twin town in Germany. Each year, the Castle Park in Husum is covered with purple crocuses and the plants have been planted in Kidderminster including Broadwaters and St George’s Park.
