POWER tools believed stolen were abandoned by a man and a woman who were trying to sell them for cash at a Kidderminster shop.
Police are now trying to trace the owner of the heavy duty power tools. It is understood the man and woman realised officers had been called and left the tools at Cash Generator, Worcester Street, on Saturday, November 16, because they knew they had been stolen.
Officers arrived at the shop moments after the pair had left and when they failed to return, seized a yellow Dewalt pneumatic breaker, a blue and silver Makita circular saw, a yellow Dewalt angle grinder and a blue Mac Allister mitre saw.
PC Andy Wallace said: "These tools are worth about £1,000 and the fact these people just left them there and made off is suspicious to say the least.
"This happened on November 16 and we strongly suspect the tools are stolen but despite various inquiries made since then we have so far been unable to trace the owner.
"They could have been stolen from anywhere and I would urge anyone who has had items like this taken to get in touch. Equally if you know of someone who has had power tools of this description stolen then please call us without delay as that could be very significant to our investigation."
Anyone with information should call PC Wallace at Kidderminster Police Station on 101, quoting incident 213-S-161113, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
