A WOMAN has become the third pedestrian to be killed on Worcestershire roads in the last week.
The 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene when she was hit by a car on the A435 Alcester Road, between junction three of the M42 and the Becketts Island, at around 7pm last night.
Police are appealing for witnesses wh may have seen the woman before the incident involcing a Seat being driven by a man in his 40s from the Hollywood, in Bromsgrove.
PC Owen Atwell of West Mercia Police said an investigation had been launched into the circumstances of the collision.
He said: “This was a tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her family.
“This is the third death of a pedestrian in North Worcestershire in the space of a week and we would remind people to take extra care while walking alongside or crossing roads during hours of darkness and that equally applies to motorists who need to be aware of other road users.”
Witnesses or anyone with information should call officers at the Operation Patrol Unit at Rubery Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 596-S-171213.
