MOBILE speed cameras have been launched in Stourport amid concerns about speeding drivers.
The speed enforcement has been carried out in Lower Lickhill Road from earlier last week after residents raised fears to the town council about the speed of vehicles travelling along the 30mph zone.
Anna Higgins, communications manager at the Safer Roads Partnership, said: “We are launching a new community concern enforcement site on Lower Lickhill Road to address the high level of concern in the local community.
“The speed data we collected in the area highlighted a speed compliance problem – half of all drivers are ex - ceeding the speed limit and 15 per cent of vehicles travel above 35.9mph.
“As well as high levels of concern about speed, there have been a number of collisions on that road. In the last three years there have been three serious and one slight injury collision.
“We hope that the presence of a speed camera will en - courage drivers to change their behaviour.”
