A FRIENDSHIP group that provides support for depression sufferers in Stourport is appealing for new members.

Sarah Neal, who set up the group after battling depression for 15 years, said that group members had found the meetings "really helpful".

About 15 to 20 people, all of ages, meet once a month at Areley Kings Village Hall. From January, a second meeting each month is being introduced for members to take part in an activity.

Miss Neal said: "A lot of people say they don't feel like they have to talk about depression but if they do, people won't judge them, "I think it's going really well. I love doing it. It's been really helpful to the people that come, it's a really tough time of year for people that suffer with depression."

The group is supported by the charity Depression Alliance, which works to relieve and prevent the treatable condition by providing information and support services to those who are affected.

The Areley Kings resident, who moved to the area from Sussex last year, said that her dog Willow was a big part of her recovery.

The sessions are free for anybody aged 18 and over who is suffering with depression.
