A 22-year-old man has been banned from entering Kidderminster town centre and Bewdley three nights a week under the terms of a Criminal Anti Social Behaviour Order (CRASBO).

Ian Moorhouse, of Highley Close, is prohibited from going to Kidderminster town centre and to Bewdley from 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until 7am the next day.

It also prevents Moorhouse from using or threatening violence towards any person, consuming alcohol or being drunk in Kidderminster town centre except on premises licensed for consumption of alcohol and from communicating maliciously either by phone, text messages or social networking sites anything that causes or is likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress.

The CRASBO, which lasts for three years, was imposed by Worcester magistrates in September when he was jailed for three assaults, and for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, obstructing police, and resisting police.

It came into effect on Friday, December 20, upon his release from prison.

The court was told Moorhouse first came to police attention when he was 13 and had since been in trouble numerous times.

On one occasion when police went to arrest him he headbutted one officer and elbowed another in the face and was so violent he had to be tasered three times before he could be handcuffed.

Other incidents had included an assault in which he had punched a man unconscious, resulting in him spending several days in intensive care with bleeding on the brain.

PC Andy Forbes of West Mercia Police said: “Moorhouse earned a reputation for being the main cause of disorder in Kidderminster on the busiest nights of the week.

“They picked fights with people, and tried to get into pubs and clubs, despite being banned from most of them, becoming threatening and aggressive when refused entry.

“Moorhouse’s behaviour is clearly unacceptable and people who want to enjoy a night out in Kidderminster or Bewdley need to be protected from him.

“If Moorhouse breaks the CRASBO, he could be jailed for up to five years. Several people have recently been jailed for flouting the terms of their CRASBOs or ASBOs, so this is no idle threat.”
