BURGLARS stole a safe and a till containing cash from the Polish Shop in Kidderminster town centre.

The burglary happened at the store in Oxford Street between 7pm on Monday and 7am on Tuesday.

A door was forced to gain entry before the thieves removed a cash register and a safe containing a significant sum of money. Cigarettes were also taken from behind the counter.

Police will be studying CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

PC Belinda Johnson said: “Other nearby businesses would have been closed when this happened but it’s possible that anyone in the area might have seen or heard something or noticed a vehicle parked there in unusual circumstances.

"It’s also possible that the till and safe might have been subsequently been dumped somewhere after the cash was removed.

“If you know anything at all then please contact us without delay.”

Anyone with information should call PC Johnson on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 87-S-3101213, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
