SEVEN cars were targeted by thieves in the Aggborough area of Kidderminster in one night.

West Mercia Police believe the series of thefts from cars are linked.

Some of the stolen property was dumped in an alleyway and it is thought the offenders may have left it there because they were disturbed while waiting to be picked up by an accomplice.

A total of seven cars were entered while parked in Kestrel Close and Aggborough Crescent.

One of those vehicles was unattended for a longer period but the rest of the offences are known to have happened overnight on Monday. Some of the cars were on driveways and a few were insecure.

All of them were searched and property stolen from six of them, ranging from a red iPod mini and satnav to power tools and sunglasses, which are all still outstanding.

Other items were found piled up in an alleyway which leads from Kestrel Close to Worcester Road and also in woods by Cobham Road.

PC Belinda Johnson said: “We believe these offences happened in the early hours of Tuesday and a camera taken from one of the cars was later found with a picture which appeared to have been taken accidentally at 6.50am at the location where it was abandoned.

“We think the thieves may have been waiting for transport on Worcester Road and possibly they were disturbed and therefore left some of their haul.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in that area at the relevant time and saw or heard anything suspicious or which may be connected with this.”

PC Johnson added that the offences highlighted the importance of ensuring vehicles were locked and that valuables were removed from them, rather than simply placed out of sight in a boot or glove compartment.

Witnesses or anyone with information can contact PC Johnson at Kidderminster Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 78-S-311213 or Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
