IT was new year's joy for a Stourport family who welcomed into the world what were believed to be Worcestershire's first twins of 2014.

Kaysen and Kylan Price were born at 6.44pm and 7.40pm respectively on New Year's Day at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, in Worcester.

The first twin arrived weighing 5lbs 11ozs to proud parents Stacie Herbert, 25 and Billy Price, 21, of Bullus Road. Little Kylan, however, gave the family a short scare after turning and was born by an emergency caesarean-section, weighing 5lbs, 5ozs.

The tot is now said to be doing well and the family arrived back home last Friday where relatives were waiting to see the new year arrivals. The boys' arrival was extra special for Mr Price who has a twin brother Darren and his uncles Terry and Johnny are also twins.

Miss Herbert said: "It was a difficult time because I delivered the first twin naturally but had to have an emergency c-section for the second meaning the father could not be there to watch the second being born.

"But we are over the moon they were born on New Year's Day. Dad [Mr Price] was very proud because he was a twin himself and now we have twin boys. They have a brother Kendle [six] who is over the moon, very proud and cannot stop helping out."

She said the due date had been January 21 but the family was told they could be early as they were twins, leading to the possibility of a Christmas or new year birth. "We were debating whether I would have them on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day," she added.

She said staff at the hospital had told the family they were the first Worcestershire twins to be born this year.

Family members, many also live on Bullus Road, were anxiously waiting in Stourport for news from Worcester and were said to be delighted when the call came through that the twins had arrived.

Mr Price's cousin, Hayley Price, said: "It was brilliant news for everyone. I had been to see them at the hospital and was in touch with them and the rest of the family all New Year's Day, everyone has been back and forth keeping in touch.

"It made the new year celebrations more special, especially for all the grandparents who were over the moon and, as they said, what better way to celebrate the new year."
