ASDA is cutting fuel by up to 2p a litre, bringing its lowest price on diesel since July, 2012.
From tomorrow morning, drivers filling up at any of Asda's 229 forecourts nationwide will benefit from the retailer’s new national price cap on diesel and unleaded, meaning motorists will pay no more than 133.7 pence per litre for diesel and 126.7 pence a litre on unleaded.
Andy Peake, Asda’s petrol trading director, said: “With the latest price cut we’re now seeing the lowest price on diesel since July ,2012.  We’ve quickly passed on the latest reductions in costs, which is great news for motorists, particularly with household budgets so stretched after Christmas.”
While Asda remains the only supermarket to have a national price cap when it cuts the price of fuel, ensuring drivers know what they will pay at the pump, regardless of where they live, other fuel retailers charge some drivers up to 8p a litre difference across their sites.
