THREE people have been injured in a road collision which closed the Stourport Road in Bewdley.

The incident happened at 7.20pm last Saturday and involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a maroon Ford Fiesta.

The Fiesta left the road following the collision and the woman driving it was trapped in the vehicle until she was cut free by the fire service. She was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, in Worcester, with serious leg injuries.

Another woman who was a passenger in the car was also taken to hospital with severe bruising.

The driver of the Corsa, a man from Stourport, suffered minor injuries and was checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not go to hospital.

The A456 between Blackstone and the B4195 junction to Stourport was closed after the collision and reopened at about 10pm following removal of the vehicles.

PC Liz Rutter, of West Mercia Police, said: "We are investigating the circumstances of this collision and we would really like to hear from anyone who saw it happen or noticed the vehicles being driven there beforehand."

Anyone with information should call PC Rutter at Kidderminster Police Station on 101, quoting incident 0539-S-180114.
