A PROLIFIC Kidderminster shoplifter has been jailed for breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) under which he was banned from entering stores.

Gary Griffin, 34, of no fixed address, was jailed for a month for going into Marks and Spencer on January 21 and stealing 12 jackets worth £984.

Griffin admitted the offences when he appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates Court last Thursday.

It was the third time he has been jailed for breaching his ASBO since it was imposed by Kidderminster magistrates in May 2012.

He was previously jailed for a month in September 2013 for going into Debenhams and stealing aftershave and for six weeks in October 2013 for going into three stores, including Boots from which he stole aftershave.

Paul Bott, West Mercia Police's community harm co-ordinator, said: "The ASBO was imposed due to Griffin's long line of thefts.

"Police, store security officers and shop assistants know him well and are on the lookout for him. As long as he keeps flouting his ASBO by entering stores and stealing goods, he will keep being jailed - potentially for up to five years."
