A STOURPORT woman has been fined £800 for failing to tell authorities information which affected her claim to benefits.
Sixty-year-old Christine Nunn, of Broach Meadow, pleaded guilty to failing to notify Wyre Forest District Council and the Department for Works and Pensions about a change in her circumstances.
Kidderminster Magistrates court heard that Nunn had inherited money and properties which gave her a rental income.
The court also heard that Nunn had not declared two bank accounts which held capital over the prescribed limit.
Between September 2009 and November 2011, she received £7,269 income support, £1,169 housing benefit and £515 council tax benefit that she was not entitled to.
The case was brought to court after to a joint investigation between benefit fraud investigators from the Department for Works and Pensions and the district council.
As well as paying back the money, Nunn was fined £800 and ordered to pay £250 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
